The current lockdown measures taken in the face of the outbreak of contamination of the Covid19 virus have been taken to ensure the sustainability of the medical system in Luxembourg. It has nevertheless led to a sharp recession which makes the current economic situation not sustainable over time. While the Luxembourgish state has come up with some rescue package, the fiscal burden of these measures is such that this can be seen only as a temporary strategy.(1)
This raises the question of when and how the lockdown should be lifted. Of course, the timing depends very much on the evolution of the pandemics and is a medical question in the first place.(2)(3) In contrast, economic analyses are needed to address...
