“Former Irish Finance Minister leads debate on the fiscal sovereignty challenges facing small countries like Ireland and Luxembourg”

The Ireland Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organised a live-streamed roundtable where the challenges to the sovereignty of small open economies, such as Ireland and Luxembourg, which compete globally, were debated on Monday, February 23. Keynote speaker Ruairi Quinn T.D. a former Irish Finance Minister and until recently, the Education Minister in the current Irish Government, spoke about the wider context of globalisation and European integration:   “The benefits, to date, of the low interest rate, low inflation and a stable currency have been taken completely for granted by commentators and politicians not to mention the European citizens.
