Russian official narrative on the current European gas crisis

These relations are complex and multi-dimensional: with numerous stakeholders on the European side, including supra- national European institutions, and the Russian system with presidential institutional regime and the state-owned Gazprom’s monopoly over the pipeline gas export.   Russia is the largest single supplier of gas to Europe and until 2022 these relations as a system were in the stage of equilibrium, characterized by incremental changes, mostly advanced by the EU.
