EAMs and Custody Banks, at a crossroad
By Eric CRABIÉ, Partner Romual POOS, Senior Manager BearingPoint   The External Asset Managers (EAMs) market represents around 2.500 companies in Europe with a total of 430 billion US Dollar AUM. It is a dynamic market with an increasingly significant weight in the financial market.   With this evolution, the number of EAMs with more of 1 billion AUM are increasing (about 100 in Switzerland and 10 in Luxembourg) with an increasing between 2020 and 2021 of their AUM (+19%). Today, assets managed by EAMs represent 11% of all assets held by private banks in Europe. With this significant size, EAMs are more and more organize and equipped with an investment of between 1 and 2 bps/AUM on IT (CRM/CLM, PMS, …).   The question is,...
