With the primary intention of increasing retail investor participation in the capital markets by enabling retail investors to take more informed investment decisions that suit their needs and objectives, the EU Commission published the Retail Investment Package (“RIS Proposal”) on 24 May 2023. The RIS Proposal came in the form of a draft Omnibus Directive that would amend, in particular, MiFID II, the IDD, the UCITS Directive, the AIFMD and Solvency II.
