In this context, if we had been asked a few years ago what money is, we would certainly have thought of a banknote. But today, wouldn’t we rather think of the number displayed on our online banking account balance? In this new context of digitalization and online payments, digital currencies cannot be overlooked by central banks. This is what the European Central Bank (ECB) has been talking about lately, assuming the creation of a digital Euro.
The Digital Euro will be the digital currency issued by the ECB.
