Although the fourth AML Directive (hereafter the 4AMLD)(1) had already been partially implemented in Luxembourg through the Law of 23 December 2016 that updated the Luxembourg tax Law and Criminal Code by introducing two tax offences (“fraude fiscale agravée” and “escroquerie fiscale”) as designated primary money laundering offences, the remaining provisions of the 4AMLD were still to be implemented into national Law in Luxembourg.
This finally occurred on 14 February 2018, with the vote of the Law of 13 February 2018 implementing most of the provisions of the 4AMLD.
