Election of the Director-General of UNESCO in 2017: H.E. Sheikh Ali bin Jasim bin Thani Al-THANI, Ambassador of Qatar, Gives a Reception in Honor of H.E. Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-KAWARI
At the opening of «Qatar, the past and the present», an exhibition hosted at the European Parliament by MEP Ramona Manescu, president of the Qatari-European Friendship Association, Ambassador Sheikh Ali introduced Dr. Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari who is Qatar's candidate to the post of UNESCO Director –General for the year 2017 (and his father-in-law).   Dr. Al-Kawari, a graduate from the Sorbonne University in Paris among others academic degrees, was ambassador to Syria (1974-1979), to France and permanent representative to UNESCO (1979-1984), ambassador to the UN (1984-1990), to the US (1990-1992) and minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage (2008-2016) when he presided the 17th Conference of Arab Ministers of Culture (2010) and created the «Year of Culture» annual...
