Life's journey has occasionally placed me at the crossroads of financial history. In 2005, while serving as CFO of ING, insights from the banking sector allowed me to anticipate the subprime crisis before it fully materialized. Later, steering the Brussels Stock Exchange and serving as Deputy CEO of AGEAS in 2009 offered me a front-row seat to the sovereign debt crisis.
These experiences taught me a valuable lesson: authentic leadership often requires exploring scenarios that diverge from the consensus. It is not about being right or wrong, but about being prepared for the improbable. History shows that resilience belongs to those who dare to ask difficult questions...
