The AIFMD 2 loan origination regime: New rules for alternative investment fund managers

AIFMD II introduces, among other changes, new rules for alternative investment fund managers (AIFMs) managing alternative investment funds (AIFs) that originate loans. AIFMD II must be implemented by member states into national law by 16 April 2026 at the latest.   Existing AIFs benefit from a transitional period until 16 April 2029 to comply with certain requirements.
