While the 1820s saw the aftermath of the Napoleonic Wars, the 1920s were marked by prosperity and cultural change; and while this decade of 2020s has just begun, it has already been defined by the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic caused widespread disruption and uncertainty around the world. It impacted economies, healthcare systems, and social norms, and has led to a new era of remote work and online communication. Climate change, geopolitical tensions, supply-chain disruption, inflation, energy security and food security are also major global issues of concern in this decade.
