East moving west: Chinese asset managers’ European strategy

During the second quarter of 2012, Ernst Young interviewed c-suite executives of some of the leading Chinese asset managers to understand their overseas expansion strategy.   Why look west?   The survey respondents: - Offer a range of products including mutual funds and management accounts; - Have assets under management ranging from Reminbi (RMB) 2 billion to more than 200 billion.   From the Chinese asset managers we interviewed, we learnt that: - Overseas expansion is regarded as a key component of their business strategies ; - They are confident in their investment expertise and capability in the Chinese market, and believe that this will attract international investors looking for...
