Clean energy, an emerging asset class with unique characteristics (LGIM)

Investments of around € 840 billion in clean energy are needed by 2030 to meet Europe's climate goals and to secure its own energy supply(1). As a result, new types of investments are emerging, with potentially interesting characteristics for institutional investors.   Large wind and solar farms are becoming more and more common across Europe. Driving the growth of this added green energy capacity, there is a solid interplay between large asset managers and companies specialising in constructing, acquiring, and managing sustainable infrastructure assets.
