Helping clients grow their assets and ensure a smooth relationship with their investors is an important goal for securities services providers. In the European context, a key element in driving asset growth is the ability to take funds cross-border. European funds are notoriously small in comparison to their US counterparts and consistently compare badly in terms of economies of scale. This means that ultimately it is the investor who pays the price of higher fees. While US levels of market efficiency may be utopian in a European context, there is nonetheless significant scope for improvement.
