Interview with H.E. Mr. Zoltan NAGY, Ambassador of Hungary: « Hungary is on the side of Europe, it works for a strong Europe »
The Hungarian Government seems to be in disagreement with the EU executive concerning two issues: the Central European University (CEU) and the Stop Brussels national consultation. How does the law concerning Hungarian universities differ from licensing regulations in other EU countries?   First, I would also like to underline that academic freedom is a very precious value in Hungary. The Fundamental Law of Hungary declares the freedom of education and research. Nonetheless, institutions of higher education, including foreign based universities, need to respect Hungarian legislation in force.   In 2016, the Hungarian Education Authority conducted a thorough investigation of all 28 foreign universities operating in Hungary revealing serious irregularities...
