Companies running a captive have more flexibility to optimize the scope of insurance coverage

Tangible benefits such as closing existing coverage gaps can be achieved by using reinsurance captives to optimize the breadth and depth of international insurance coverage and capacity limits to protect their operations around the world.   Very often, traditional insurance policies include "exclusions" or provide limited coverage through sublimits because of the insurer’s limited underwriting appetite for certain risks.
